Katharine A. Linzer, Esquire, earned her J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law and became a member of the Maryland state bar in June 2006, and of the federal bar in December 2008. While attending law school she served as the law achievement scholar in Torts, and served as a published staff editor on the University of Baltimore Law Forum. She was also a research assistant for Professor Jane Murphy, her Family Law professor, who is now an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Katharine served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Lenore R. Gelfman, Associate Judge, Howard County Circuit Court.
After law school, she clerked for a personal injury defense firm in Baltimore City, did research and writing for the American Antitrust Institute, then worked as an associate on a variety of cases of diverse nature such as sexual discrimination, plaintiff personal injury, and contested family law matters. She opened her own practice in Towson, in March 2008. Katharine grew up the daughter of Dwight S. Thompson, former Deputy State's Attorney for Howard County, a career prosecutor and military officer, and Cleora Thompson, city planner who attended Yale School of Architecture. Consequently, she has lived in various states across the country including Hawaii, Utah, Kentucky, Georgia, and Maryland. She has also visited Russia, Europe, and the Middle East. She attended the University of Connecticut, and majored in Russian language with a minor in biology. Katharine worked for the State Department after graduating from college and held a top secret clearance in military intelligence. Katharine has gained a reputation for being a zealous advocate for those she represents. She specializes in competency and disability issues as they relate to special education, juvenile defense, family law, and guardianships. She has published various articles relating to special education, and criminal law. Katharine lives in Baltimore with her husband Steve of twenty five years and their six children. |
